Scout Optimizer

Find the most efficient route between solar systems.

Overview

This Eve Frontier tool finds the shortest travel path between a start system and all other systems within a given radius based on direct, point-to-point distances. It does not take into account stargates or smartgates. Therefore, it is best used for generating an optimal route for a ship's jump drive, particularly for navigating dense collections of stars (like those near a trinary system) or other areas with otherwise unconnected systems.

Optimization Parameters

  • Passes: The number of refinement rounds the algorithm will perform. For complex routes with many systems, more passes increase the chance of finding a better solution.
  • Time/Pass (s): The number of seconds each CPU core will spend searching for improvements during a single pass. A larger number of systems requires more time per pass to be effective. The application will show a recommended minimum time next to this field.

How to Use

  • Calculate Optimal Route: Starts a fresh calculation.
  • Continue Optimization: Appears after a run is finished. Clicking it will use the previous best route as a starting point for more passes, allowing you to dedicate more time to the search.
  • Stop Calculation: Appears while a calculation is running. You can click this to interrupt the process between passes if you see the route distance has stopped improving.
